Control Systems Engineer

Location: Hybrid (Office-based in Yorkshire with UK-wide site travel)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

The Role

As an Automation Engineer at JV Controls, you’ll play a key role in the design, development, and support of industrial control systems. You’ll be working on a variety of projects, from modifications and upgrades to full system integration, across multiple sectors and sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, programming, and commissioning of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Provide onsite support for system modifications, fault finding, and rectification.
• Carry out Asset Health Surveys, PROFIBUS Surveys, and system assessments.
• Assist with reverse engineering and creating documentation for legacy systems.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions.
• Participate in testing, handover, and ongoing technical support as required.

About You:

• Proven experience working with industrial control systems (PLC/SCADA/HMI).
• Hands-on knowledge of platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider Electric.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed (UK-wide).
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience in water, utilities, or energy sectors.
• Knowledge of PROFIBUS networks and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices in industrial control systems.
